St Joseph’s General Hospital located in Comox B.C. is celebrating 100 years of service to the community. It was in 1913 that the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto came to Comox to establish a hospital in response to an invitation to serve. The Sisters remained active in the running of the hospital until 1989 when they made the decision to transfer ownership of the Hospital to the Diocese of Victoria.

St Joseph’s General Hospital is an affiliate of the Vancouver Island Health Authority and carries on the Sisters vision of providing care with compassion. This video is in celebration of 100 years of service and pays homage to the Sisters while reflecting on their accomplishments and their spirit. St. Joseph’s exemplifies in its care, the Catholic tradition of the Healing Ministry of the Church.

The Hospital’s staff, physicians and volunteers are dedicated to serving the needs of their community with respect for the dignity of each person as a unique individual.
