Going Green supports Great Care, Close to Home
Emterra Group donates more than $30,000 to local healthcare over 14 years.
Did you know that every time you place your blue recycling bin at the curb, you are helping our community in more ways than one? We should all feel proud to know that, with every item recycled, we are not only taking steps to reduce the environmental footprint, but collectively as a community, we are also supporting healthcare right here in the Comox Valley.
With Emterra Group’s ‘Make Your Contribution at the CurbTM’ Community Care™ Program, the recycling company donates $1 for every tonne of recyclables that residents place in their blue bins and that gets recycled. Since 2009, residents of the Comox Valley have been a part of this program resulting in Emterra’s donation of more than $30,000 to support great care, close to home, over the 14-year period. That’s more than 30,000 tonnes of recyclables diverted from the landfill, while also supporting healthcare for our community.
Today, the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation (CVHF) and Emterra Group celebrate how the recycling actions of Comox and Courtenay residents in 2022 contributed to Emterra’s next generous donation of $2,164 to healthcare!

We created ‘Make Your Contribution at the CurbTM’ to add value to the simple act of recycling. By putting out a few more recyclables each week, every resident of Courtenay-Comox helps to contribute to one of the most important organizations in our community…our hospital. Emterra is proud to support the Comox Valley Hospital, and our community, through our annual donation to the Healthcare Foundation,” said David Ross, Emterra Group’s North Island Operations Manager.

Joining in today’s presentation at the hospital are Comox Mayor, Nicole Minons, Councillor, City of Courtenay, Doug Hillian, and CVHF Board President, Bill Anglin.
