A legacy of compassion and care
During Leave a Legacy Month, we honour those whose generosity supports our community for generations to come.
Sandra Kamm was passionate about helping people and animals.
When a plea for volunteers appeared in the paper, Sandie – as everyone knew her – didn’t just show up, she brought her husband along too because one pair of hands was never enough and her caring spirit was contagious to those around her.
Sandie brought warmth, humour, and an open heart to many local causes. She received a Canadian Blood Services award for over 150 donations, volunteered as a Christmas elf during the holidays, and shopped for groceries for people unable to get out.
She was a much-loved daughter, sister, wife, and a dear friend to many.
Health, movement, and community were central to Sandie’s life. A lifelong gymnast, devoted yogi, and accomplished ballroom and square dancer, she inspired others through both her ability and her joyful disposition.
Professionally, Sandie built a meaningful career in accounting, including work at a burial park and at a long-term care home that supported people living with dementia, roles where care, dignity, and compassion mattered deeply.
Her kindness extended to animals especially those in need of rescue.
In loving memory, her husband Greg is helping to create a welcoming, trauma-informed space for families and individuals in crisis at the Comox Valley Hospital, as well as enhancements to improve emergency care for vulnerable patients.
Through this legacy, Sandie’s compassion and dedication to helping others will continue to benefit our community.
