Deacon’s Brows-Be-Gone Fundraiser

Deacon is shaving his eyebrows on Thursday, August 14th!

Sometimes, even the most unexpected ideas can lead to something wonderful. One of our younger supporters, Deacon, has chosen to shave his eyebrows to raise funds for a cause close to his heart: providing stuffed animals to children receiving care at the Comox Valley Hospital.

When Deacon visited the hospital last year, he received a stuffed toy during his care — a simple gesture that brought him comfort. Now, he wants to give that same feeling to other children who may be feeling scared or unwell.

While a stuffed toy may seem small, in the eyes of a child facing illness, injury, or a medical procedure, it offers reassurance, a sense of safety, and often a much-needed smile. Hospital staff and volunteers regularly share how impactful these toys are in helping to calm and comfort young patients during their care.

Since October 2024, the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation has distributed approximately 3,800 stuffed animals to children at our hospital. Each one brings joy and relief in moments that can feel overwhelming. You can learn more about our pediatric stuffed animal program by clicking through the link.

Support this light-hearted fundraiser and help us continue to offer comfort — one stuffed animal at a time.
