Spin Pink with Leanne Gray

June 5, 2026 - On the one-year anniversary of her breast cancer diagnosis, with tremendous gratitude in her heart, Leanne Gray is hosting her usual Friday 9:15am spin class at Comox Recreation Centre with a unique “spin” that we hope everyone can get behind.  Leanne’s wish is to collect donations in support of the Cancer Care Department at the Comox Valley Hospital and for registered participants to dress in pink as a celebration of the community support that helped her through the last year.

Please read Leanne’s story below and consider showing your support through the donation form below.

Last June, what was supposed to be a routine step in advance of surgery turned into something completely unexpected—I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a scary and emotional time, but I was grateful to learn the cancer was caught early and likely contained.

I kept teaching spin classes as long as I could until my surgery in mid July. Thanks to an amazing medical team, the surgery went well—and even better, the pathology came back clear. Hearing that they had gotten it all was an incredible relief.

In the fall, I went through 15 radiation treatments. That part of the journey was tough. The fatigue and side effects slowed me down more than I expected, both physically and emotionally. But even on the hardest days, I never felt alone.

The love and support from my community carried me through. Special messages, patience with my absence, and encouragement meant more than I can put into words. When I struggled, I leaned on that kindness to keep going.

Now, I’m stepping into this next phase focused on healing—taking it one day at a time and finding strength again, little by little. I’m so deeply grateful for my healthcare team, who guided me with such care, and for this remarkable community that lifted me up every step of the way.
