Across the Comox Valley and surrounding region, thousands of people pass through the doors of our local hospital each year—seeking answers, relief, and reassurance. It might be a friend or colleague arriving in the Emergency Department, a mother or daughter undergoing a mammogram, or a community member awaiting important medical answers. These moments touch all of us. Behind every diagnosis is a need for clarity—a story that begins with timely access to the right equipment and unfolds through the uncertainty that only compassionate, close-to-home care can help navigate.
In our community of 78,000, diagnostic equipment is used more than 104,000 times each year. These tools are often the first step in a patient’s journey, quietly guiding physicians toward timely, accurate decisions. From oncology to orthopedics, maternity to emergency care, diagnostic imaging is a cornerstone of modern medicine.
And we know—now more than ever—that timely access to these tools can make all the difference.
This fall, we are reaching out with a shared desire to grow, to strengthen, and to advance the care available in our community. We recognize that when urgent medical questions arise, the need for answers can feel overwhelming—and the uncertainty, deeply personal. Across the Comox Valley, families know what it means to wait, to worry, and to hope.
Together with the Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare, we are committed to enhancing diagnostic services at Comox Valley Hospital.
The Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare has stepped up to match each gift made towards diagnostic equipment up to $X to help replace aging equipment and invest in more advanced, responsive technology.
This includes a fully upgraded ultrasound suite with six new machines, and a state-of-the-art mammography unit capable of performing over 5,600 exams each year. These upgrades will mean shorter wait times, sharper imaging, and greater comfort for patients during some of life’s most vulnerable and difficult moments.
With more than 40,000 Emergency Department visits annually—and rising demand across all areas of care—equipping our medical teams with fast, accurate diagnostic imaging has never been more pressing. Investing in this technology today, means building a stronger foundation of care for tomorrow.
We are deeply grateful for the support of more than 3,000 donors in our community—many of whom have experienced, or stood beside someone, who has experienced the vital importance of having quality healthcare close to home. Your strength, compassion and generosity empower our medical teams to enhance diagnostic services and supply them with the most current tools and knowledge – so they can deliver the best care possible right here at home.
Please consider making a gift to our fall campaign and double your impact today. Every donation—large or small—makes a meaningful difference. Collectively, we are working to build a healthcare system our community can trust and rely on, now and into the future.
With sincere gratitude,
P.S. Your generosity helps provide enhanced care for community members and friends like Chris who recently depended on this vital equipment after a bike accident. Watch how he got back to the joy of riding after a serious injury.
