The Comox Valley community has come together once again, achieving a matching campaign—held in partnership with the Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare.
Every year, thousands of people across the region rely on the Comox Valley Hospital for timely answers and compassionate care. From emergency visits to mammograms, diagnostic imaging plays an essential role in helping physicians make clear, accurate decisions. With diagnostic equipment used more than 104,000 times annually and demand continuing to rise, upgrading these tools is critical to supporting patients close to home.
Thanks to strong community response and continued fundraising momentum, the ongoing campaign will fund significant improvements to diagnostic services, including a fully updated ultrasound fleet of six new machines and a modern mammography unit capable of more than 5,600 exams each year. These upgrades will reduce wait times, improve image quality, and enhance patient comfort during some of life’s most stressful moments.
“We are truly inspired by what our community has accomplished together,” said Cathie Poje, President of the Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare. “This campaign shows what’s possible when donors, partners, and healthcare teams unite with a shared purpose to support advanced care here on Vancouver Island.”
With more than 40,000 Emergency Department visits each year and growing needs across all areas of care, timely diagnostic imaging remains a top priority for the region.
“This remarkable, early-campaign outcome speaks to the strength and generosity of our community,” said Avry Janes, Co-Executive Director of the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation. “These new upgrades will mark an important step forward for patient care at the Comox Valley Hospital. Every contribution helps ensure residents have access to fast, high-quality imaging when they need it most.”
Many community members contributed to the success of meeting the Auxiliary’s match, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening local healthcare. The Healthcare Foundation continues their fundraising efforts to meet more than $1 million in vital equipment needs.
Community members who wish to support ongoing diagnostic improvements are encouraged to make a gift through the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation. Together, we are building a healthier future for the Comox Valley.
