Meet Lauren, self-declared FOMO-sapien (Fear of Missing Out) and 10-year resident of Comox. In Valley terms, Lauren is a newcomer. Even so, it would be difficult to find a trail she hasn’t biked, a beach she hasn’t explored, or a mountain she hasn’t hiked. There are many things to appreciate about this adventurous woman, whether it be the leadership she has shown in coaching kids to mountain bike, planning successful bike swaps, or championing a high school salad bar program. Her hard work is valued, but what is extraordinary about Lauren is she gets that joy is vital in living a full, healthy life. She also knows that life is unpredictable, and accidents happen.

No stranger to the Emergency Department at the Comox Valley Hospital, Lauren’s injuries range from severe damage to her knees, shattered ribs, fractured wrists, a broken hand, and multiple concussions.

When asked what Lauren values most about local healthcare, she answers, “knowing I have access to the best care possible. I never want to give up the joy of playing hard outdoors. Knowing the team at the hospital will expertly and compassionately help if I injure myself, or need any type of care, brings me confidence.”

We play here. We work here. Help ensure the best possible care here, close to home.
