CIBC Community Investment in Courtenay donated a generous $5,000 to the Foundation in support of breast cancer detection, specifically to help fund the new Neoprobe for Surgical Services at the Comox Valley Hospital. We received the donation in the Spring and finally had the pleasure to connect with their General Manager, Jaime Stone, to celebrate their gift.

On October 1st, Jaime will lead the local CIBC Run For The Cure team in Nanaimo. We wish her running team the best and send our gratitude to CIBC for all that they do across the country and in the community for cancer care!

Over 300 breast cancer detection procedures are performed annually at the hospital. The Neoprobe can detect if cancer has advanced into the nodes of the armpit. This is critical in understanding the surgical requirements and in developing the best plan of care for patients. Surgeons can then focus on removing only the affected nodes resulting in less loss for the patient and better care. Thank you CIBC!
