The Avalanche Dab and Donate Events support Mental Health Initiatives for our community!

In the photo from the left is Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation – Executive Director Lynn Dashkewytch, Comox Valley Hospital Adolescent Outpatient Therapist – David Somers, Nutritionist – Roberta Lineker , Eating Disorder Therapist – Meredith Martin , Clinical Coordinator Psychiatry – Jennifer Coulombe and Manager of Mental Health and Substance Abuse – Petra Ballantyne.

Initiatives to support youth and mental health have been enhanced in our community. Assessment rooms at Comox Valley Hospital now have a comforting environment with a less clinical feel. The new furniture, patient comfort and communication items, staff education, new artwork and a department mural all add to the experience for people who access support in the area of mental health.

These enhancements to care were made possible due to the success of the Dab and Donate events that were held at The Avalanche over a 15 month period. The monthly events raised $16,127 in total.

The events were in partnership with the Goat Radio Station, and many local businesses provided prizes. The mental health care team are so grateful for the support “When the first patient arrived and came into the assessment room they said how cozy it was said Roberta Linekar – Nutritionist at the Comox Valley Hospital “the new furniture, artwork and space really helps to enhance the patient experience”.
