The 2017 Golf Committee for the Mindset Wealth 27th Annual CVHF Golf Classic pose with a cheque for $40,000 at Crown Isle on July 6th.

June 14th at Crown Isle was a very exciting day on the course, as the 27th Annual Mindset Wealth Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation Golf Classic raised over $40,000. Proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic went to Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation (CVHF) to support areas of greatest need for healthcare in our community, to ensure that all Comox Valley residents receive the very best in healthcare from first breath to end-of-life care.

“We are very proud that over the past five years the Golf Classic has raised $228,000 and we would like to thank all of our generous sponsors and golfers from the Comox Valley who come out each year to help make a difference in their community,” said Robert Mulrooney, Senior Investment Advisor of HollisWealth, the event’s title sponsor and chair of the organizing committee. “On behalf of this year’s amazing golf committee our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all past sponsors, committee members and participants who were instrumental in making this event a community tradition.”

In 2013 Mindset Wealth took over the Golf Classic and built off the long-term success already created by RBC. Organizing chair Robert Mulrooney and the golf committee members branded the tournament with a logo and new name and increased hole sponsorship, including cart banners, pin flags and hole activity.

Over the year the committee also focused on putting together an outstanding live auction for star auctioneer Dave Steven to work his magic, while the quick wit of Emcee’s Pat McKenna and Jason Andrews always kept the evening amusing and entertaining.

“Once again Mindset Wealth and the Golf Classic committee have come through in a big way to support our Foundation,” said Katie Maximick, Communications and Fund Development at CVHF. “The amount of work that goes into this annual event is incredible, and we can’t thank the Mindset Wealth team enough for raising such a substantial amount through our Golf Classic over the past five years.”

“We are truly blessed to have such giving and hardworking people out there in the community who care so much for our healthcare and hospital. We want Robert, his team and the committee to know how much we appreciate all that they’ve done for our community since 2013.”

In the five years under Mindset Wealth’s guidance, the event has funded: the development of the Healing Garden at St. Joseph’s (2013), High Tech/High Touch medical equipment (2014), a post-operative respiratory monitoring system (2015) and a fluid management system for the Operating Room, which will transfer to the new hospital this fall. What the $40,000 from this year’s event will fund is to be determined.

“It has been an honour to have been title sponsor for the foundation during such important milestone events; The 25th Silver Anniversary, The 100 Year centennial, the last year of St Joseph’s Hospital Foundation and the first year of the new foundation name – Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation,” Mulrooney said.

“As we step aside as title sponsor and allow for a new partner to bring fresh new ideas for the Golf Classic, we have no doubt that this event will continue to be an outstanding success.”
